We learned about the importance of storytelling in a town where they like to say that “the town revived storytelling and then storytelling revived the town.” Then we climbed to a view so beautiful I wanted to stay there all day.

Day 179: Scrambling Up Big Rock
GPS takes you to a private road, just keep going and you’ll find parking in the right. This area is popular for climbers and bouldering and I can see why.

Day 121: You Belong Here
The air today is smokey from the wildfires up north. It’s amazing how far it travels. The rain that comes later is a welcome relief. It freshens the air and lets up just in time for us to enjoy a walk around town.

Day 90: Rock Hopping on the Chattooga
We’ve driven by both these fabulous spots many times without realizing we should have stopped and spent some time exploring them.

Its great to be out exploring! We explored a bit of very unexpected history in Pickens, SC and climbed the highest point in SC.

Day 60: We Discovered a Beautiful Garden
Clemson, SC has never been on our list of places to visit. But, like many places we happen upon, we’re so glad that we did. Yesterday we got to see a beautiful sunset over a lake and today we found an unexpectedly impressive garden.

Day 59: Place of the Sunlight of God
The name “Tamassee” means “Place of the Sunlight of God”, according to an interpretation of the Cherokee word which gave the area its original title. I think that’s the perfect name for this hike.
