Day 176: We Went Fossil Hunting
Today we went fossil hunting, saw a wild owl catch breakfast and found a unique colony of endangered, 1,300 years-old plants.

Day 175: Land Of Many Stairs
The first time we came to visit New York State, about a year ago, we came to experience the famous Watkins Glen. We never realized how many other impressive Glens and Gorges there are here with waterfalls cascading all along them. You could spend days here visiting them all.

Day 160: Mountain History And A Mini Food Tour
Perched atop a mountain ridge at the center of the planet’s largest concentration of anthracite coal is a mining town. It was originally restored for the 1970 film The Molly Maguires and then converted to a state historic site.

Day 159: We Found Lindt Heaven
Fantastic views, some very unusual features along a river and chocolate heaven. I think it would be fair to say that we had a pretty great day.

Day 139: Traversing A National Landmark Boulder Field
Designated a National Natural Landmark. To us, it looked like a strange lake of boulders in the middle of the forest, something we’ve never experienced anywhere else.

Day 138: Touring Harpers Ferry
We parked at the main park entrance visitor’s center and took a bus into lower town, about 1.6 miles away. The park ranger suggested a 2 mile loop to us that took us through the historic town and onto a portion on the AT.
