Day 76: Angels in the Woods

Spring

time of year

Angel Falls, Lakemont, Georgia (2.3 total mile out and back, 436’ elevation). This is a lovely little hike. The first part takes you along a campground to Panther Falls, a very pretty staircase waterfall. From there you follow the stream to Angel Falls, a gorgeous 30+’ waterfall. We had the place all to ourselves but the trail looks to be very well traveled so I suspect it’s quite popular in the summer.

On the way to our hotel we passed Miles Through Time Automotive Museum, Clarksville, GA and couldn’t resist pulling in to see the old vehicles in front. The hippie bus was absolutely amazing, all the colors, the details and artwork. We left the inside portion for the next time we pass through the area. If it’s anything like the outside it’s worth every penny of the $10 entry fee.

We checked into the Comfort Inn and Suites, Dahlonega, GA and were given a free upgrade to a suit. How fancy is that?

Price: $113/night
