Day 65: We hiked the Endless Wall

time of year

Our coffeemaker in the room wasn’t working so we went over to the Damascus Diner for coffee and breakfast sandwiches. They offer good quality short order cooking with a full bar in the back. Good price, fast service, tasty food.

We drove to the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, Fayetteville, WV Canyon Rim Visitors Center to get some information about the park and to walk down the 178 steps to the bridge overlook. It’s the western hemisphere’s longest single arch bridge.

We checked into Quality Inn New River Gorge, Fayetteville, WV and took a much needed nap. Great off season price and they had a really good breakfast.

Price: $174/2 nights

Refreshed, we headed to the Endless Wall Trail (2.8 mile loop, 288’ elevation). Definitely park in the Fern Creek parking area if there’s an available spot so that your road hike portion is down hill. This is a great place for an after dinner hike along the rim of the New River Gorge with several intimidating overlooks.
