Day 126: Shipshewana

time of year

Pisgah Marsh Boardwalk and Golden Eagle Viewing Deck, North Webster, IN. We didn’t see any eagles but it was a lovely walk through the birdsong in a beautiful marsh. The boardwalk was built on an Esker, a raised ridge formed by sun-glacial streams that left deposits of dirt and gravel where they flowed.

Shipshewana, Newbury Township, IN, a bustling Amish town. This place is so much better than Lancaster, PA. We watched the horse auction, window shopped, ate blueberry handpies and picking up a slice of butterscotch pie to sit for dessert tonight. There are horse farms and carriages driving around everywhere.

Rocky Gap County Park, Benton Harbor, MI to admire Lake Michigan and take a walk along the beach and ate our delicious Amish butterscotch pie.

Rodeway Inn, Saint Joseph, MI.

Price: $119/night
