- Get off the highway and explore the back roads. Take the road less traveled and you’ll see so much more of what the area has to offer.
- Keep driving time down to 2-4 hours per day. You’ll pass many interesting places (especially if you follow #1) and you’ll want have enough time to explore without feeling pressured to put the miles in. We can easily turn a 2 hour drive into a 5 hour adventure.
- Take the time to get your vehicle organized for your road trip. Determine what fits, have a place for everything and put things back in the same place. This makes packing the car much faster and over time you’ll dial in the perfect “fit” for your vehicle.
- Use a snack bag and cooler. Having snacks and drinks when you want them means less stops for food and more stops for adventure.
- Good music helps make a road trip great. We use SiriusXM and have a thumb drive with 100s of songs always available.
- Make sure your vehicle is sound before your trip. Check tires, get an oil change and get any issues resolved. One thing that ruins a good road trip is a vehicle breakdown.
- Use Google Maps to track places you want to visit. Marking places on a map means less time wondering what to do when you get somewhere new.
- Embrace technology and mobile apps to help take the pressure off everything that comes with a road trip: route planning, finding places to stay and locating activities, just to name a few.
